The story behind the cottage
A place built from lived experience
Abide Cottage was born not from a textbook, but from the raw, real journey of watching someone you love face a critical illness, while facing chronic illness of my own— and realizing how much women need a space that truly holds them.
How Abide Cottage came to be
Melisha Creates has always believed that creativity and compassion go hand in hand. But it was through witnessing the profound isolation that comes with a chronic illness diagnosis that she felt called to build something more — a refuge, a community, a cottage where women could come exactly as they are.
Too many women face their diagnoses in silence, navigating medical systems, family dynamics, financial stress, and emotional upheaval without a guide or a community who truly understands. Melisha saw that gap and decided to fill it — not with clinical distance, but with warmth, presence, and practical wisdom.
Abide Cottage is the result of that calling. It is a space where women are not just patients or caregivers — they are whole people, worthy of joy, connection, and support at every stage of their journey.
What we stand for
Presence over perfection
We show up as we are — messy, hopeful, tired, and resilient. There is no performance required here.
Dignity in every season
Chronic illness does not diminish your worth. You deserve to be seen, honored, and supported fully.
Community as medicine
Healing happens in relationship. We believe deeply in the power of women walking alongside one another.
Practical and soulful
We hold space for both the emotional and the practical — because life with illness requires both kinds of support.
